ODA Middle Eggplant Floor Lamp

Inspired directly by the industrial monuments photographed by Dusseldorf's famous Becher School, Sebastian Herkner joined the external form to the internal function of a steel foundry to transform them into the Oda. As a result, the brilliant homage to light is a source of comfort and has since become a reference for contemporary lighting design.

Design

In this irreverent design, a slim base embraces a bulbous shape. An industrial motif softened by the smooth curves of hand-blown glass. The Oda series of table and floor lights refers to the empling shapes of the silos, ovens and water towers of a bygone era. A warm glow brings this sharper industrial aesthetic to a softer interior environment.

Material

Steel and hand-blown glass.

Each piece is created from hand-blown glass. The frame is constructed of steel; coated or chromed powder, or brass. Bubbles, stripes and other variations in size and color are part of the production process, not design or production defects.
