Popular saints

Jun 12, 2020 | Brands

And in the month of saints and camões, we elect as the mark of the month the Laboratory of Stories.

A Portuguese brand, which emerged in 2013 with the aim of telling the story of a different Portugal. The spirit of the Histórias Laboratory is translated into an experimental design space that aims to draw inspiration from the stories of Portuguese popular culture to reinvent traditional objects, using them to tell new stories and, why not, to recreate the country’s own history.

The result of this experiment are pieces such as a manjerico petrified with the supposed love between Perseu and Medusa, or as corvo, symbol of Lisbon, as a rascal who pecked the legs of the ladies at the door of the taverns. Executed from the ancestral techniques of the pottery of caldas da Rainha and materials such as faience, the pieces emerge as memories, physical proofs of a history that never existed.

O corvo

As we live in the Age of Experiences, in addition to telling the story, the authors intend to engage the public. They invite national illustrators and even the public himself to add value to the final product with their own interpretations, short story and image. They thus want the audience to get involved and be part of the story and experience, taking them much further than the purely decorative or functional purpose of the piece.

Each piece is a unique and dynamic piece and story, ready to be discovered. From its whole arises the added value of a collection that merges reality with myth, tradition with fable; but above all, it gives our imagination wide, casting a fresh and irreverent look at the dormant icons of Portuguese popular culture; objects in and out, which seek to tell another story of Portugal.
Monte das OliveirasThis brand has the particularity of creating the experience and wanting to involve and invite everyone to participate, thus betting on the development and design of product having consulting services development and research, design, and management of all kinds of projects and handmade and industrial products.
